Troop 150 makes every effort to ensure that each Scout is placed into a Patrol that will encourage growth in the program. We also want the Scouts to be comfortable and make every attempt to allow them to request a Patrol once they find the one with which they are the most comfortable. Patrols choose their Patrol names. Patrol patches must be purchased by each Scout through the Scout Shop in Dothan, or via the National Supply center at http://www.scoutstuff.org/. Patches not listed must be custom ordered. There are several approved vendors that you may find online. Patrols that choose a Patrol name not listed above must split the cost of the minimum number of custom Patrol patches required by the vendor. The Troop does not offset the cost of the patches, nor does the Troop purchase the excess patches. New members of your Patrol should purchase the patches from whomever has possession of the extra patches. You can view the current list of Patrol patches available through BSA on our Patrol Patches page. Our membership numbers fluctuate due to various reasons, one of which is our location in a military town. Currently we have the following Patrols:
= Total Number of Scouts – 25 Members Troop 150 has an "open-door" policy for boys between the age of 11 and 17 that are interested in joining a Scout Troop. Webelos are encouraged to visit local Troops often and get a feel for how Troop work. If you are a Webelos Den Leader and want to join us during an activing or camping trip, please contact our Scoutmaster. We love to have the Webelos come experience the fun of Scouting! Generally, Senior Webelos begin crossing over into Boy Scout Troops between January and May of each year. As we gain the new members, we will either allow them the choice of joining an existing Patrol, or if the numbers make it necessary, allowing them to form a new Patrol. It is important for the families of the new members to recognize the need for the parents to actively participate as Committee Members, or in some cases, as an Assistant Scoutmaster. We like to have one ASM for each Patrol which means we need at least one, and possibly two, new ASM’s. Parents with previous experiences as members of a Troop during their youth, or as adult leaders during their son’s Cub Scouting years are encouraged to speak to the Scoutmaster about how they can help. |
